Cute but wrong! I would say that BMO is a remnant of the old world and was originally owned by Marceline, hence why BMO stays in the house when she re-occupies it in the episode "Evicted" and doesn't go with Finn and Jake.
But this is still uber cute, I'm just saying is all

There are multiple theories, but there is no real explanation as to why BMO is there in the first place. Even your explanation amounts to guess work, and for all we know can be wrong as well.

Alright, now this is actually nicer than the non-canon one. Reason being is because of the cleaner linework, although I do like your interpretation of their mom a lot. The stars were a nice touch, and once again, your skills with shading and coloring are uncanny.
Although, something bothers me here. Ah, found it. The positioning on the characters looks all wacky. If you look at Finn's position, he's actually closer to you than bemmo is, yet he's looking towards US. And then Jake seems to be looking at a place which seems a little strange, like at the floor in front of Beemo. Probably should have made the white of his eye less visible.
Other than that, this is nice, very pretty. Hope I helped! ^^

Oh yes i do know exactly what you're talking about. I got really lazy and didn't even bother mapping out a floor. so they're all on different planes looking not-so-directly at beemo!
As for their eyes, i really just wanted to draw them all big and sparkly, mistake or not ;u;.
