Sunlight (I always use natural or existing light). Not much makeup-eyeliner & lipstick.
I like to keep things simple.
Silver bleach, sepia toner and selenium toner applied with paint brushes. The bleach is the key (and first) step. It's application determines the tones, where color will appear, why some areas are lighter than others. Sepia turns varying shades from yellow to brown depending on concentration- I mix my own and by increasing or decreasing the amount of sodium sulfide you determine color. Time the toner is applied determines intensity.
It's somewhat akin to painting but with photography as my beloved base I get to repaint the real world.
Everything in photoshop came from darkroom- it is the granddaddy of it all so there's no mystery here.

Standard darkroom supplies. You should look into it.
