Hey There Sweetie,
I wanted to first say, that you look great in this picture!!! All around wonderful job!!! Is that the new camera that you just built? I love it!!! Oh, by the way, I am showing your work off to a friend of mine. I told her how great you are and well, you have another fan!!! Then again, I talk about you so much, my lady, well now ex, knows who you are, when I mention your name!

Correction to former reply which had a few nifty typos (I hate typos)-
That is the camera I built, my Bender 8x10. He has a flaw, I broke the ground glass in half on the very last step of putting it together so viewing is a little askew, but as long as I focus on the right side and take it on faith the negs come out just dandy. (I cannot spring $70 for a ground glass at the moment.)
Thanks for showing the work. I am shooting at a somewhat slower pace so I can make the handbound books but I'll keep posting if you keep looking. Sorry your lady is now your ex, hope at least it was amicable. That was never a trick I could muster.
Keep shooting.

Beautifully done Lauren, as always! What is the object in the lower right corner?

It is a burned metal plate with a little man stamped on it that is attached to the mirror.

Nice piece, it really keeps me want to watch it...something I usually don't have with portraits.
It also reminds me slightly of Dave mcKean's photography.
Keep it up!

[link] A nice old man makes view camera kits. Sells he sells about 5 8x10 kits a year. Has smaller ones too. Fun stuff.

I thought it was very straight forward when I was shooting but as usual the end result was something else entirely.

I know. I'm still trying to figure out how I became transparent. I know I kept still for this one.

It's a large format camera. They're still manufactured & available. This one is brand new and I made it myself from a Bender kit. It is an 8x10. I also have a 4x5 and 5x7- those are both old models. This camera produces and 8x10 negative and I tray process it and contact print it in the darkroom. They're quite beautiful. Phenomenal detail.

some rather ingenious construction of the scene. Did you notice the face above yours, sketched out by the vines and shadows (or mirror tarnish)? In any case, it is an exceptional shot, one of your best.

It is a monster with center leg braces and geared handle rise and lowering of center column. Weighs a ton. Has never left the house and I believe was just waiting for an 8x10 to make it all worthwhile.

Hahaha, well thats a good start. I was mostly referring to the transparency. Though I'm sure the lighting and makeup contribute significantly. How you manage to do all of this with no photo manipulation is what confuses me. You truly are impressive.
