Description
The entire title is Adrift, Lost to Dream on the Timestream....but due to dA's stupid title restrictions, I don't get to wow you with my way cool title.
Bummer karma, huh ?
Anyway, this is my first entry to minimalism contest.

Thanks Josette, I had to be careful with the color that they didn't overwhelm the lines so I'm glad you liked how it came out.
And thanks for your well wishes too ! Are you going to enter ? You have until August 11th, I think. August something anyway.

How am I doing? In a word: sweltering. On top of 100+ temps, there's a wildfire burning about 10 miles away and the smoke is just hanging in the air; it's like living in hell. I'm so ready for fall, it's not funny.

That sounds terrible ! Are you in California ? I know they're having terrible fires out there & the heat out in the west is bad. And here in Ohio by where I live we're 5 inches over normal with rainfall. I've got almost 6 foot tall mint plants in my bed on the side of the house. It'd help if I'd clean it out I guess.

No, I'm in southeast Virginia, on the edge of the Dismal Swamp (if there's a more appropriately named place in the world, I sure don't know what it is.) Seems there were some forestry workers doing some work in there and one of their pieces of equipment caught fire; it's been so dry here, that's all it took. It's been burning for about three weeks, but it's a peat fire so while they can contain it, "they" say it's going to take a tropical storm or hurricane to put it out, either of which would be welcome at this point (sighing and knocking wood, 'cos the last hurricane meant no power/phone/computer! for two weeks.) Oh, woe. 👍: 0 ⏩: 1
I used to grow mint, loved the fragrance wafting on the breeze. It escaped its bed though and after it advanced halfway across the yard, I ended up pulling it up. Do you do anything with yours?
laurengary In reply to skellorg [2008-07-01 01:20:58 +0000 UTC]
No, I stand there & look at it & debate about the chances it was put there by some malevolent alien species with a long term goal to slowly take over our world by weed suppression. It's escaped the bed & is slowly taking over my yard in it's bid for world domination.
Although, as I stand there & debate what terms I can get when I negotiate my surrender, I have to say I love the smell too.

Planting mint must be very close to the top of the "sounded like a good idea at the time" list.

It was here when we moved in. Just like the garlic they planted in the front of the front of the house. The first summer we were here you'd walk out the front door & I swear to God you'd think we were baking pizzas !
BUT.... we've never had any vampire issues !!
