i colored in the skin a soft peachy color but its barely noticeable due to my scanner being a bitch but although this isnt the original drawing due to it being in my art class for open house for the next month and a half i used the copy i had on the computer and printed it out and colored it. i also did the hair, eyes, and lips.

For some reason scanners don't cope with traditional art very well - especially pencils and nice shading. Myself I seem to get better results by taking things outside on a day with nice sunshine, lying them on the floor and taking a photo of them. Even with a camera phone you seem to get better results than a scanner.

It would be nice if scanners could pick up the minor details and "brighten" them up so they don't go unnoticed.
I should try that next time. My phone camera is pretty nice. XD

I think some mediums, especially pencils, are a little bit reflective - with the bright light at close range I think that is why they get wiped out in a scanner. The more they try and 'brighten' things the worse it seems to get.
I dunno - I have experimented at great length but I'm sure somebody cleverer could still tell me I'm being dumb!
But taking at photo really does work better!
