Description
Just a personal reminder of how to color in Sonic style. Keeping it simple.Ignore the shizzy drawing. It's old. Something I needed to finish lol.
Critique if you wish. It's just something to remind me later on in these time zones.

This is awesome! Buuut, I don't really get how I have to choose the color for the Dawn time... Could you even to a tutourial? The colors have to be more redish.. but if I do this, it just looks odd.. D: Pls help!

I usually use a dark dull red with a multiply filter on. Or if the multiply doesn't do any good I make it just about 50-70 opacity as multiply sometimes will not work with some colors.
I'm sorry if I'm replying so late. :c
What part becomes looking odd after adding red? Is it dark or light?
If dark try using the opacity method. Lighter colors usually go well with the multiply option. Usually. Sometimes they just do weird color changes into something else.

Oh I see! First of all I'm so so soo sorry for the late reply. Thanks for your advice! ^^
But before you take the dark dull red, do you use the normal blue as the base color? or do you even change the blue a bit? is the blue in every picture(day, dawn, night) the same blue? (do you know what I mean?) I just don't know how I have to adjust the color.. :/
I'd say my problem is with the shading part. Well I'll see what I can do. thankies!

Yeah, I always do a normal base color, then create a new layer of the new colors. Dpending on what you want to get you can play with the filters till you get what you want. Usually I set mine to multiply or overlay. Or sometime just lower opacity will get a better effect.
Some people are purists with colors and do it all in one layer but if you make a mistake it can be hard to fix that way. It's really preference. I like my stuff to be seperate and organized, so this way works best. If you find you need the color to be darker you can select that layer and then go to image>Adjustments>Hue and Saturation. Takes awhile to master but it's easier than Β repainting and only affects one layer at a time. You can find really cool color blends that way. Or if you just need it darker or lighter that helps too.
I'm sorry for late response. ;;
