This boy Matthias in your class told you other day that he will be moving soon. In a way you were kind of sad to see the Danish boy so upset, but on the other hand he was always so mean to you. So it didn't bother you too much. Still Matthias sat next to you in the back of the classroom and, even though he made you cry on some days, you would miss having him sit next to you. When he forgot his book you both had to pull your seats together and share a book. Even though most of the time he just fell asleep anyways.

"Listen, __________ I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do all of those mean things to you." he said to you one day while you were sitting at your desks waiting for shool to start for the day.

'This was so unusual for Matthias,'you thought curiously. You looked over at Matthias. You were never particularly interested in him, but the look he gave you made your heart stir. As other students came in Matthias looked away blushing fiercely. You could tell something was up because he didn't fall asleep once in class that day and he had the same indifferent expression on his face. This wasn't the same loud mouth with graity defying hair that usually sat next to you.

After school he asked you to meet him in the courtyard at 3:00p.m. You didn't know if you should go or not.

" Hey! _________! Wait up!"one of your friends called. Matthias nodded and walked away. "What was that?" your friend Arthur questioned.

"I-I'm not sure," you said as your face flushed.

"Your turning all red," Arthur snickered. You shoved him in return. You started walking down the hall and you were completely lost in thought about Matthias. Arthur nudged you and asked, "Hello? Earth to __________! You've been turning reder and reder the further we've walked down this hallway. What? Do you actually LIKE that annoying jerk?" You ignored him and stopped. He stared at you with serious green gaze. "Do you realize how many times I've found you crying in a closet because of him?!" You were furious now.

"Well it's none of your business about how I feel!" you shouted at Arthur. He just stood there in a stupor as you ran away. You felt your eyes begin to grow warm and moist. You tried to hold back the tears, but they began to fall silently to the ground against your will.

"Wait! ___________! I didn't mean to say that!" shouted Arthur when he came to his senses. But you were already gone.

Little did you know that your feet were carrying you right where Matthias wanted you to meet him. The courtyard. When you were almost there you stopped and realized where you were headed you wiped your eyes dry. You looked at your watch and realized it was almost three o'clock. 'Matthias is probably already there,' you thought. You continued to walk the rest of the way there. The first thing you noticed was the tall Dane standing there in the middle of the courtyard with his long, red and black jacket over his school uniform. You walked over to him and smiled.

"I have to say this before I go. I just want you to know...."

"I've found a reason for me to change who I used to be. A reason to start over new," he began to blush as he quoted one of your favorite songs. When you had realized what he was saying you looked down and started turning bright red. He lifted your chin and stuttered, "A-and ... the reason is... you." He leaned down and kissed you amongest the soft snow floating down to the ground.

"I'm sorry that I hurt you. It's something I must live with everyday. And all the pain I put you through. I wish I could take it all away and be the one catches all your tears," he sang more bravely. You stood there amazed.

That's why I need you to hear.

"I-I love you too, Matthias! Please don't go! Don't move away from me!" you cried. You hugged him tightly and never wanted to let go.

"I'm so sorry __________, but I have to go I don't have a choice," he whispered softly in your ear. "I will return for you. And when I do I'll be a better man for you." He pulled you in again and kissed you again while tears began streaming down your face. when he pulled back he wiped your face with his finger. "Don't cry. You'll ruin your beautiful face if you cry. Come on this is my last day. I don't want you to be crying when I leave," he said tenderly. You stopped crying and rushedly wiped your face with your coat sleeve and smiled up at Matthias. "That's better," he cooed holding you tightly. "hadn't you ever noticed?"

"Noticed what?" you said looking into his sad blue eyes. You were lost in them. They had a mesmerising effect on you.

"I've always had a crush on you __________. I always loved the way you always focused so hard on your work. And you always had a cute lttle crinkle right here," he said taping between his eyebrows with his index finger. "When you were really trying. I loved teasing you but you always got so upset." You laughed. "Well I have to go now,but I'll come back. I promise," he said sadly. He kissed you one last time and turned around leaving you with no time to say anything. So you just stood there.

Little did you know that Matthias began crying silently immediately after he turned around.

5 years later:

You never forgot the promise he made to you. You were going to college now but you decided to continue living at your house, since it wasn't too far from campus. You heard the doorbell ring and went to check to see who it was. When you opened the door your eyes went wide and an involuntary tear rolled down your cheek. There stood Matthias. Right before your very eyes.

"Is that anyway to greet an old friend?" he laughed as he gently wiped your tears away with his thumbs.

"Matthias!" you yelled and jumped into his arms.

He was much taller than the last time you saw him but you could still recognize his dreamy blue eyes and his gravity defying hair. You pulled him into a tight hug. "I missed you, too," he chuckled into your ear. You wrapped your arms around his neck and pressed your lips against his. He was shocked at first. His eyes widening but he then wrapped his arms around you in a tight embrace and returned your kiss.
