Description Alice *edit*

Chapter one

I was in my own horror movie. All that existed was me and the darkness. I could see nothing, and feel nothing; but that wasn't what really terrified me. It's because I was alone. Being alone is like being put into my own hell. I could yell but there was no one to hear me, I could move but there was no one to touch… However, it was all I could do. I started to run, tears rolled down my face as I screamed at the top of lungs.
That's when the darkness began to move. Slowly it crept up my leg, grabbing me, consuming me further into darkness. I thrashed around attempting to free myself, but it still devoured me.
I woke up screaming once again. This dream had haunted my nights for the past month. The dark circles under my cobalt eyes had sunk back into my skull more and more with each night that passed. I glanced at my clock, it was 4 AM and I was all too alert to go back to sleep. Starring at the ceiling seemed to be my current hobby…
My cat, Louis, gently snuggled his petite black body atop my chest and began to purr. We were the same. Both abandoned, both adopted. I found him alone on the side of the road as kitten and took him in. I was abandoned on the door step of my adoptive parents, Samantha and Paul Robinson, with a necklace and a note that only stated my name and birthday.
Her name is Alice Sauvetrre and she was born on August 23, 1991.
Please take care of her.
Tomorrow will be my 18th birthday. 16 years ago, what had happened that made my birth parents desert me? Did they never love me? Did I do something to anger them so much that they abandoned me? How could I? I was only 2! What happened?! This question tormented me more and more each time I thought about it.
I grabbed the necklace that my parents left me off my dresser. It was stunning, a true piece of art. It was a simple silver chain with a pendent of a ruby heart not much smaller than a quarter. Carved ever so meticulously on the front was that of an angel but she was wrapped between two roses, one with thorns the other without. It intoxicated me with its mystery of where it came from and what it symbolized.
"Alice honey, are you okay?" Samantha peered into my room as she did every night. "You're up so early again; did you have a bad dream?" Her face was pale from her own lack of sleep and you could see the slight bags under her light green eyes. She is so young at heart and full of life, but her job as head of the medical staff has been slowly eating her away.
"I'm fine Mom, just having some trouble sleeping lately that's all…" She wasn't convinced but didn't want to pry. "Are you and Dad off to work?" I asked, seeing as the noises I heard from the kitchen were probably from Paul searching for the car keys.
"Yup." She sighed. "Some idiot put his finger in the barrel of a shot gun and it's stuck in there pretty good, so the hospital is calling us in early… We probably won't be home till late. You ganna be all right alone hun?" My heart pounded against my chest, agonizing at the thought of being alone.
"I'll be fine." I smiled weakly.
"Okay…" She said concerned. "Call us if you need anything."
"I will."
Just before she closed the door she said ever so earnestly "I love you. I love you with my heart and soul."
"And I, you."
She nodded with a smile and shut my door. A few moments later I heard their car drive away. I glanced at the clock; it was 5:43 or in other words time to get ready for school. I placed Louis around my neck as I did every morning and began the day after day ritual of getting ready for school…
