I've been wanting to draw a fighting game styled picture of the background pony Octavia, from My Little Pony - Frienship is Magic for quite a while now, and finally got to it.Obviously she's always portrayed as stiff and sophisticated type of character, so I decided to play around a bit, and show her in a different light. She looks kinda crazed out mad. That cello serves as quite brutal melee weapon.
Obviously this was partially inspired by Octavia's "battle theme" called "No strings Attached" by Jeffthestrider. Check the YouTube link(s) if interested. Personally I prefer Makkon's version, but both of them are great.

As always, this was drawn with water soluble color pencils, and finished with white gel pen.

Dunno, probably not. I haven't really thought about drawing anymore ponies, unless a special case comes up or something.

For some reason most artists think Octavia is just bored with everything, and thinks she is above everyone. Nothing wrong with that, but it gets a little dull after awhile.

Well, it doesn't matter what instrument it really is. All that matters is that it's gonna hurt when used as a melee weapon.

I always saw her as more likely to use her bow as a oversized throwing knife. In any case it still looks sweet.

oddly enough my buddy of mine said the same thing. It does seem reminiscent of Haruko and her bass guitar. The anime itself is amazing, I suggest seeing it at least once and seeing how there are only 6 episodes, it won't take you long to finish it.
