In my opinion, he's the greatest boxer whom ever fought so far.

He was Bruce Lee's friend and technically mentor, since Bruce studied his foot-work closely and then incorporated it into Jun Fan(Lee Fist) which is distinct from Jeet Kune Do(Way/Path of the Intercepting Fist) which is not actually a combat form but an Empirical Modus Operandi for ascertaining the most effective sets of characteristics to adopt into a fighting stye.

If it were not for Ali, Lee wouldn't have used* JKD to observe Ali's movements and then* created* Lee Fist or Jun Fan.
