Description
So this is one of the ugly fellas from one of my favourite games "Amnesia: The Dark Descent", called the Gatherers or Grunts. Their background story is somewhat shrouded in mystery. A note in the game suggests that they were once soldiers during the Thirty Years' War who abandoned their duty and were therefore damned to forever walk the earth in undeath, wearing the scars and signs of dismemberment from the battles in life. But according to an in-game event in the Brennenburg Castle wine cellar it seems like the main antagonist of the game, Baron Alexander of Brennenburg, poisoned his own men with some wine. Whatever was in the wine killed all the men in the most horrid ways (including bursting chests and tangled bones piercing through skin) and re-animated them as the Gatherers that now roam the castle halls. Which theory to believe or are they both true perhaps?
