Such an amazing drawing to be honest! I'd love to learn more! I wanna get good at poses too but I don't wanna "copy". I really wanna learn how to reference stuff.

thank you my friend, lot of copying can make us learn a thing or two, except for a non study work, don't blatantly copy i guess (use multiple pose references)?

also do photo study for extreme poses helps! and sometimes i do thumbnails before proceeding to the actual drawing, ref: img00.deviantart.net/d29c/i/20…

Hm? is that so? Well I just don't want to copy things and people thinking I'm some kind of "thief". That's like one of my fears really, that I'm not creative and I'll get blames for it. And I got nothing against drawing real life people I just don't wanna copy the entire pose too.

not all people against copying, (well it is wrong when it comes to professional matter it then become plagiarism) from what i hear it's a good way to learn.. lot of pros i know often learn from other people, classical painting, or photos. well if you feel bad for copyrighted photos (like magazines) you can copy poses from a stock photos? it's legal after all.
but i know how you feel since nowadays people are more open with their opinions and judgement.

also if you're afraid of judgement then you can show it to someone you think is "safe" enough, or not posting it online. people i know are getting bitter of redraws/ blatant copy because they see some artist redrawing stuff without crediting the original artist (some even making money from it). i don't think recreating something is wrong if it's purely for studying.

Hm...that's true too. Makes sense. I asked this cause I want to improve on my own work without taking someone else's ideas/success.

haha don't feel bad about learning from others, i'm pretty sure all artists do that. we're all get inspired and inspire people.
in fact people makes tutorials / post steps for others to learn from. maybe the old days they don't learn from others' art but they learn from nature.
