Madlen's induction into the STC remains a bit of a sore spot for LT Klaus Erlich for a few reasons. The sad truth is that the power of the Witches fades as they age, with it peaking from their teens to late twenties. This means that most Witches able to be of use to the STC are younger than most recruitment limits for the Imperial Army.

Klaus was unable to turn down Madlen's enlistment thanks to the huge monetary donation by her parents winning over many of the general staff, so instead he mostly keeps her on base. Despite her youth and proper upbringing, Madlen takes to her training with zeal and is always willing to put forth her best effort no matter what her duty is.

Thanks to pressure from her parents (eager for their daughter to be a hero) it seems unlikely Klaus can keep her off the battlefield for long...

Madlen's life as a recluse in a mansion, forbidden from using her magic, has left her powers in a weak state. Not having developed her true powers, she can only use common spells the others can as well. However, her sense of smell does seem sharper than the average Witch.

Madlen's sheltered nature made her stick out amongst the other Witches. However, her infectious cheerfulness seems to help her allies perform to their best, and she's always quick cheer on anyone to try their best. Watching as Leutnant Klaus managed to find ways to help the other Witches with their problems, Madlen swore that she would do her best to do the same!

With the nebulous position of unit 'mascot' under her belt, Madlen leads all cheers to inspire greatness among her friends, and helps calm the nerves and restore morale.
