You have been visited by a Critmas Fairy! We fairies are trying to show the world we can give critique to others without being downright criticising, as per the spirit of CRITmas. Mind if I just hop on to business, then?

First things first: excellent job on the portrait; the likeliness is striking and the style is very spontaneous, to the point of looking effortless. I am impressed the most by your use of blue ballpoint pen - that's not an easy medium for drawing portraits with!

I'm a bit hard-pressed to find anything I could give actual, objective critique on, except maybe that his mouth, being slightly off to the right compared with the central axis of his face look more like a mistake than an actual smirky raising of the corner of his mouth. I guess this is where the loose style plays its tricks I guess, or else the fold of the corner of the mouth wouldn't have been buried underneath that mustache!
I'm having a little bit of trouble with the undiluted reds and greens next to the blacks like that, but that's more of personal taste than something I would call my critique on it. Still, a harmonious colour palette might have given this lovely portrait that extra push in the back to make it stellar, I think.

As it stands though, let me tell you again that I think this portrait is top-notch and I would certainly not go back in and start changing things. If a more restrained palette is something you'd like to try out, best to leave that for another project.
In the meantime, allow me to wish you a belated merry christmas and an early happy newyear!

Happy arting,
BATTLEFAIRIES
PS Don't mind the stars; I think they're just not suitable for the job of critiquing different types of art in here. I do hope you don't mind.

Annemie, thank you so much for the critique!
I liked your opinion about this portrait. Yes, there is a small error in the anatomy of the face. I will try to improve skills in drawing portraits.

This work shows efforts in the work.
Some details could improve the portrait a lot more.
In general its rather flat especially the shapes of the eyes and face.
The left ear seems longer than the right one.
With some less contrasts and detail lines on the face there
would be more volume created and it gets less flat.
Despite the general flatness which can be improved by exercise,
I can see you're starting to understand how the shadows work.
The background and moustache were particularly well done in detail.
The work is a great eye catcher and enough balanced.

Oh, this is wonderful! I love how you've shaded it with the pen, then emphasized with paint. I've enjoyed watching all the Dr. Strange portraits appearing over the site, but this one is truly unique. Well done!
