Description This is an Art Deco band stand in Victoria Embankment, Nottingham, England.

The local tv news ran a story the other day saying it was going to be demolished. So me and "GOW2hell" [link] jumped in my car today and drove 30 miles to Nottingham to photograph it.

Lovely photo, lovely simple design. Sad about the demolition prospects There's been a huge wave of demolitions here in the States of things like Streamline and Deco diners and bus stations. People don't see them as "historic" enough to save

I know. Seems we have to loose these things before we value them. Ironically, some 300 feet away from the band stand there was a 1970's brick and concrete construction, probably a cafe. Now derelict and looking like a cold war bunker, it was a kind of testimony to planners without vision!
