Hi,

Thanks for all the comments about the doors.

All the doors are taken in and area of Beijing around the Forbidden City. They are know as Hutongs and were the homes of rich courtiers. Since the communist revolution, these homes have been sub-divided and lived in by an aging community who have resisted a move to more modern accommodation.

The photographs were taken in 1999 during a business trip to Beijing.

Aaaaaah. I really appreciate you filling in all these details. It helps to place this scenery within context, and it's important for me to view the images accordingly (if that makes any sense?)
