I've lately been really liking this pairing. I REALLY like all the pokemon rivals, always have, especially Green/Gary/Shigeru/etc, and Barry/Jun/Pearl. Ugh all the pokemon characters have so many names, it is really annoying. Also lately I have been cosplaying Green and have had so much fun!!I love this version of Red the most. He seems like the most legendary trainer in the pokemon games. I will never forget the first time I battled him. As you know, being kuudere as he is... he never says much. Lol
So I drew this. Kind of in scribbly style again. It is just a little less stressful for me, I am trying to overcome my nitpicking overly concerned perfectionism, which actually I've found makes my pictures look worse rather than better.
I should draw more fanart instead of just Shaiming everything 24/7 haha.

It really bothers me when people say Originalshipping (GreenXRed) is the same as Palletshipping (GaryXAsh) because it's not -.-

I just use all the names (and not the shipping names unless I'm making something very specific) because I'm one of those people who likes all the different versions (aside from, I would NEVER call Red Ash or vice versa), and I can't really decide.

So Gary (but not Gary) is blue in the English games but green in Japanese? Is that what you're saying?

Yes. And he is Green in the Japanese manga as well. In the manga, Blue is the girl protagonist you see in FireRed/LeafGreen.
So basically, since pokemon green version came first, with pokemon red in japan, that's why they named the two main trainers Red and Green. But because in america, there was no green version, we just got red and blue. So that's why his name is Blue in English versions.

Gary/Shigeru is not exactly the same character as Green. Shigeru was the anime character based on Red's rival Green in the game, but there are differences between them.
Gary is Shigeru's English name, so Shigeru and Gary refer to the same person.
The Pokemon Special manga used the name of the game characters, but again Green in the manga is a different character to both Green in the game and Shigeru/Gary.
For example, in the manga, Green was trained from a very young age by Chuck, but there's no indication of this in either the game or the anime. Likewise, in both the game and the manga, Green becomes the Viridian Gym Leader, but that's not the case in the anime. In the anime, Gary decides to follow in his grandfather's footsteps.

I know that, don't worry.
I love every version of his character, to be honest. So usually when I draw him or talk about him I just sorta shove all versions of him together, because I don't care which one it is. The appearance is generally the same, so people can decide which version that is of him, I guess.
I think the game rival is my favorite which is who I normally base my drawings off of, personally. The games are my favorite of the pokemon series.

I love it. You never really interact all that much in the games. Hopefully with OR and AS you will interact more free instead of just standing there looking pretty.
