Description
Someone recently asked me how to write scripts for comic books. This is purely subjective, as how you write the script is dependent on your publisher's needs, who's working on the project, and so on.In the case of Peach Fuzz, the script Jared and I wrote only needed to be interpreted by me (and my editor), so fancy formatting or panel notations weren't necessary. All I needed was the dialogue, and a general idea of how the scene played out, and I was off and running. As you can see in the example, this loose approach to scripting gives me a lot of flexibility when it comes to roughing out pages. I'll add, delete, and move around panels for best effect.
I'm not sure it would be a good idea to write scripts like this if someone else is taking your words and illustrating them. For proper formatting, I recommend looking online for sample movie scripts, or better yet, comic scripts from the publisher of your choice, and learn from those.
By the way, the example page comes from Peach Fuzz volume 2, chapter 3, pg 88, and yes, it is available in stores, so be sure to check it out if you haven't read Volume 2 and 3 yet. You can special order them through your bookstore if they don't already stock it.

This is very helpful!
But the only thing I can see is Tim's face in that top right panel. XD

My style's a little bit different, but the gist of it is there for you aspiring comic book writers. My suggestion is to separate it by panels and describe each panel in detail (unless not much action is happening) That would make it easier for the artist. I wouldn't know about the art part, but I do try to make it as easy as possible.

So something like a short flash fiction like thing per page, similar to prose would be ok? I kind of switch between panel per panel, and prose.

Yeah, what's most important are your finished pages. How you format your script is whatever works best for you.
UNLESS you're submitting writing samples to a company. In which case, you'll want to format the script however they prefer it.

I think this is something that will be very helpful, and I mean that. I've been looking forward to starting a comic, but I could never find the proper way to produce a script....

It's a good example of a comic script. It looks like Marvel scripts. I'm writing a manga script. It's a remake of Sailor Moon. I'll try to publish it. The art is responsibility of this person: [link]

I see what you mean, but, as I understand, with the Marvel method, the script isn't written until after the page is drawn, which isn't really the case here. I make tweaks, but I always have a fairly clear idea of what the characters are going to be doing and saying. It also helps that I have complete control over both the writing and art aspects, which allows the process to be organic.

I like seeing how you work. I'm an amateur, but scripting and drawing out what's scripted are things I want to get better at.
