I volunteer for Carolina Pet Rescue [link] as the Pet Promotion Specialist which means I take pictures of the adoptable animals that come into the rescue and put them up on the internet so the animals can get adopted!

While on a country road trip, a couple saw a dog standing in the middle of the road. They got out of their car and saw that the dog was starved and emaciated... and very pregnant! She got in their car and they drove around from shelter to shelter trying to find someplace that could take her in. All of the no-kill shelters were full and unable to take her in. And the shelters that did euthanize said that if they took her in, they'd have to put her down because they wouldn't be able to take care of the puppies once she gave birth. Finally the couple found Carolina Pet Rescue and they were able to take the dog in and put her in a foster home where she was fed and loved and cared for. Soon after her arrival she gave birth to 13 puppies! This photo is of the mother nursing half her puppies.

All of the puppies and the mother found loving forever homes!!!

This photo was taken when the puppies were 2 weeks old! It was the day after they had opened their eyes for the first time!
