I volunteer for Carolina Pet Rescue cpr-nc.org/ as the Pet Promotion Specialist which means I take pictures of the adoptable animals that come into the rescue and put them up on the internet so the animals can get adopted!Here's a photo I took of two of the guinea pigs at the rescue.
Dogs and cats aren't the only animals that get abandoned, abused or dumped in shelters. There are plenty of homeless rodents, birds, reptiles, and exotics in shelters and foster homes! well unfortunately these little sweethearts have a stereotype for being like large hamsters, not interacting with people, and biting. None of this is true, I have two of them and love them!!!!!

Guinea Pigs are more like dwarf rabbits then huge hamsters ..... they are cute and are good pets (as long as you are prepared to clean up after them)

They are! Cookie's a little American pig and we're not really sure what Simba is, but I'll call him a long-haired Abyssinian.

no, I dont believe so but I had to clean out the cage rather often

yes..the only down side of pig-pigs is the cleanup. anyway, mine like sitting in the warm bath water...they hate it when i bring in the baby shampoo, though. They've learned to tolerate it cuz I give 'em yummy things afterwords..

it keeps them calm while I shampoo them cuz they know they're gonna get a reward for being good. I have a hard enough time holding onto them when they're wet, so we put the little shallow tubs we bathe them in on the floor, and they also get treats while they have a bath...such little food lovers...
