To be fair the reason why everyone hates Flash Sentry is because the writers weren't allowed to make him a main character so that they could actually give him a personality that you could actually like due to the fact it was a show for girls.
I know, it's silly, but that's the way it is. He could have had actual characterization, but he doesn't due to office politics.

He's not an undeveloped character with no personality because it's a girl's show. If that were true, Spike would never get any episodes. He's just flat and undeveloped because the writers felt his role as a status symbol didn't require investing any time in him, and they had more important things to do with that time. Apparently they were wrong, though.

The problem I think most people have is that it's difficult to disconnect a canon character from the way they are portrayed in canon even when they are used in a fan work context. I.e. Flash Sentry will always be the Flash Sentry from the show to them unless a lot of work is done to differentiate the too.

. . . I am uncertain what you are responding to. Nobody was disputing that he's underdeveloped or that being underdeveloped is a detriment to his character.

Sorry, bit of a tangent. Anyway, I was trying to point out that he might still be hated even if he was a more developed character. If you bring in a canon character, they always come with baggage and the preexisting opinions of them that will color the perception of them even in a fan work.

Obviously so, if we are discussing the situation of fan works making use of him after he has had a movie or two to be underdeveloped in. It seems a shame to even bother applying deductive reasoning to arrive at that conclusion, given the ample supplies of directly observed evidence. Anybody who nevertheless argued that Flash's underdeveloped nature is irrelevant to how he is perceived when used in fan works would certainly have to be a great fool. I do not see any great fools in this thread.
But if he had never been underdeveloped to begin with, that would be quite a different story. Of course, the writers could have made him an unlikable developed character if they so desired (although making a character unlikable is not as easy as it sounds), but I doubt they would have chosen to do such a thing with the main love interest.

Could be kind of like how Cadence got spelled as Cadance on some official merch.
It is pretty difficult to tell if the spelling "error" is intended or accidental in a name since names usually are not subject to spelling or grammatical rules.
