Okay Leadmill. I have seen your pics for a while and I love the militaria feel of it, but the helmet goggles have always thrown mee off. The color and the fact that it is a second pair is offsetting. I challenge you to redecorate your helm to fit your fatigues, Keeping the silver red and white theme. Possibly incorporating an insignia to represent your ship. What are your thoughts on that?

Hmmm, I appreciate your feedback but what would you suggest as an alternative? The outfit does not have two pairs of goggles, one is a set of 'mechanical targeters' for range aquisition and the other is a conventional pair of goggles as you would expect someone working on an airship to need. One would be worn on top of the other. As for insignia we haven't really gotten around to designing any yet

Well while appropriate it expands the colorscheme a bit much in my mind. I would recommend insignias on the left and right side of your helmet to give it some depth color wise. Now the connundrum lies in the combination of a pith helmet, something not at all flight worthyy, with the flight goggles. I am not sure quite how to solve the juxtaposition problem this poses, but the gogges at your neck (which i havent envisioned, just suggesting).

The goggles arent as much a problem as the color ties, im a man more for functionality which i see is not unlike yourself so maybe just trim on the helmet will help visually incorperate it into the outfit. The white on top makes the color weight weird on your outfit.

Any ideas?

Well the colour scheme was chosen as the concept was originally a victorian/steampunk take on the modern soldier. So while the basic costume is period accurate (helmet/tunic/trousers) the rest is a 'unked version of modern kit (armour/radio/targeters). The googles were lent to me by a friend who ended up letting me keep them. I do agree the need replacing with something better. While at a shoot in London the photographer lent me a pair of black goggles which looked rather snazzy. Decided to incorperate those into my next project!

good call though. The brass from your gun isnt carried over well enough. Some brass trim here and there would tie it in, because it feels like you need a silver metal gun not a brass, but thats just on color incorperation. What ideas do you have for future characters.

I understand about the brass on silver issue, the gun needs a repair in the near future so I may repaint it then too.

I'm already about 80% finished on a Steampunk Naval Firefighter, the idea went through several concepts before I found one that worked. The colour scheme is all black with red and gold trim on the cuffs and white belt, with a large red firefighting backpack. A friend sketched the redesign for me - [link] The jacket is a bit longer and I have found a facemask that hopefully will look the part.

Great idea. I see so many costumes with poor direction that when I find one with good direction it inspires me to see if i cant help to improve it. See if you cant re link me that, it is the link for the album which needs a password

This is definitely one of those I'm-glad-I-viewed-it-full-size images. Otherwise, I wouldn't have spotted the subtle details which you two did for your eyewear.
