This particular type of digital art, as you may know, is called photomanipulation. Basically, the process consists of combining several (or maybe just two) stock photos into one complete piece. For example, here I cut the model stock out of the background and replaced the background with a photo of the sea. In the stock, she was already on a beach to I left the sand part in.

I use Photoshop CS6. Older versions like CS5, CS4 and such would work just as well too.
