For your information, he is a male. I'm not sure if you understand his whole, transitioning into a male, issue, or you are just transphobic, although, it's his decision to say that he his male or not. Not to sound rude, honestly, but Carlos prefers to be known as a male, and he sees himself as one too, by heart, and so does everyone else. So I would suggest you use male pronouns around him, please. It honestly brings him down when he is told that he is a female, and not what we truly wants to become, which is a male. And it's just out of respect for you to call him a male, not a female.
