Can an Atheist be a good Warrior?

WARNING BERY OPINIONATED THOUGHTS AHEAD
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Okay, first off, I LOVE that Cloudtail is an atheist.
Because there's no reason that a warrior NEEDS to believe in Starclan, to be a good warrior. Cloudtail is loyal, a good father, a good friend, mentor, and a good warrior. His ability to provide for his clan, and defend it isn't inhibited at all by the fact that he doesn't believe in an afterlife.

Now, let's say, in an AU I thought of at work.
Firestar makes Cloudtail his Deputy instead of Brambleclaw.
Firestar dies in the Great Battle.
Cloudtail becomes Cloudstar, but, due to him not believing in Starclan, he doesn't receive 9 Lives. Yet, he's still able to be leader.
Why?
Nightstar of Shadowclan.
He did not receive 9 lives from Starclan, and still lead Shadowclan until his dying breath.
So, why can't Cloudstar? The only difference is that Cloudstar Willingly does not receive 9 lives.
Does it matter? It doesn't.
Leaders don't receive omens. Leaders aren't responsible for converting the wisdom of Starclan into speech or whatever.
Leaders lead their clan to greatness.
So why can't an Atheist lead?
They can, and in fact, I think it would make everything a lot more interesting.
Gatherings would be a fucking hoot man. Cloudstar would be very over the whole 'Starclan is angry! They covered the moon!' "Mistystar, those are just fucking clouds."
Cloudstar doesn't believe in Starclan so all the signs and omens and prophecies just, don't matter to him?

So, imagine, baby Alderpaw, new medicine cat, coming to Cloudstar, to give him an omen, and Cloud just responds 'Sure man, whatever.' Because he doesn't understand them, but knows it's important to Alderpaw.

Cloudstar would either Retire after a few years due to old age, or be killed by literally anything.

Honestly, and Atheist Leader would be so interesting and fun to read about!

And not in the way Blackstar was. He believed in Starclan to begin with. Cloudtail never did.
