Character Review
Blindness

Longtail is black due to genetics.
I made him a Multi Colored Black for Personal Preference.

Okay, so, I like Longtail. I feel like he had an understandable reaction to a Kittypet becoming an apprentice.
I mean, he was like, what, a new warrior, 18 moons, about 25 in human years. It's a pretty cocky age, that guys tend to start fighting for no reason, and hold themselves higher than everyone else.
Think, Frat Boys.
Longtail at the beginning of the series is a Frat Boy. Love it.

So, he learns his lesson, he knows not to pick a fight with Firepaw anymore, as he's earned that much, but as Frat Boys do, he still makes snide comments, and tends to overall disagree with him. Not bad, annoying sure, but not exactly bad.

He matures as time goes on, he learns to respect Fireheart and Firestar. He keeps his bitter attitude of course, but still learns that Firestar worked hard and deserves respect. And he gives it to him.

He's not really a Villain, maybe an Anti-Hero, since he's against Firestar, but not actually Evil. A good type of filler story, but can kinda be annoying since they're hard to create backstory for. You don't get a lot of back story for Longtail.
He's an interesting character, and I like him and his attitude. I'm always for the Anti-Hero types.

Blindness
Longtail retired early because he couldn't see anymore,
His vision slowly got worse and worse, u too he couldn't see st all.
He retired with Mousefur.

And I Agree.
Longtail was about 3 when he went blind, which I like to think is about 30 ish in Human years.
It would have been extremely difficult for Longtail to continue his warrior duties after going blind. It's different from Jayfeather, who was born blind. Jay had nothing to compare his abilities to.
Longtail did. Longtail grew up knowing how to see. He grew up with the ability to see. Losing it after the equivalent of 30 years, would be SO DIFFICULT to adjust to.
Not impossible, just difficult.
Longtail as a character is already a short tempered type cat. Easily irritated. So I can see his lack of improvement causing him to be upset, and him becoming depressed and not want to even attempt to continue being a warrior.

Mousefur being his Denmate helps get him out of his depression.
They both are pretty snarky sassy cats, so they OBVIOUSLY would become the Gossip Duo. All they would do is sit in the Elders Den, and gossip about cats.
It helps perk up Longtail's mood, and keeps Mousefur from almost eating a kit who asks too many questions.

Anyway, he is one of those characters that isn't really interesting to some people. But I like him.
I like his version of going blind, and forced to retire.
It makes more sense imo.
