Description I was scrolling through the comment section of one of NaraShadows' model dls (Hinata's) when I came across a conversation that sparked my interest.

There were some good points made on both ends, and I must admit it would've been cool to see how things would have developed if the two was switched. With Sakura learning things like genjutsu and sensory from Kurenai, and Hinata helping balancing out Naruto and Sasuke's teamwork while developing more as a character herself (as well as more interaction for an explainable HinaNaru). Not that I personally got anything against how it is now, it's just a cool thought.  Especially since Sakura was surrounded by crazily overpowered teammates  from top clan, bloodline, and heritage, it would help her shine more not having to be constantly compared and often shadowed by their achievements.

Separating her from Sasuke could also help her to let her improve and cultivate her own skill set as a shinobi since there wouldn't be anyone to initially fangirl over (which stunted her own growth since she was usually more focused on getting Sasuke's attention more so then actually training.) Since I've never actually recall a moment when Sakura had to interact with Kiba nor Shino for any reason what so ever even when they were on missions together, I wouldn't really know how her personality would affect the team. No doubt, her obsession of Sasuke would definitely annoy them, but I also noticed that when Sakura wasn't around Naruto nor Sasuke, she was more shy/reserved and self conscious (in PTS), and in Shippuden, she was more chill and focused. So my guess is that she'd probably get along with Shino and Kiba and warm up to them after being on a team with them for a little bit. Also, with her being more focused on improving herself, she'd probably still inspire the two to work harder too and support her as Hinata initially did. As far as the thing with Sasuke goes, depending on how far she gets, she'd likely catch Sasuke's attention and acknowledgement  (as Karin did when they met for the second time in one of Orochimaru's hide out). Throw in some more scenes where they'd have to interact and spend time together, Sasuke could possibly grow some sort of respect for her that could develop into something deeper later on as time passes which would also better develop SasuSaku.

I've been observing Sasuke for a while, I deduced that as far as his feelings originally went for Sakura, he never payed her much mind specifically because she acted like one of his mindless fangirls. All he ever seemed to want was some recognition for not being some handsome, perfect Uchiha prodigy with a highly recognized older brother and father, but for being an awesome and insanely skilled shinobi that is also a human being with flaws, goals, and feelings. He hates living under people's shadow just as much as he hated himself for being "weak" and "allowing" all those tragedies to happen. So having a person who is not totally obsessed with him, strong enough to take care of themselves if situation called for it, someone he can depend on and push him to his limits, and could see him for being him and not some perfect being was probably what he wanted. Which is why he had such a strong bond with Naruto, a person who was just that, and later on Sakura. Although Sakura took longer to develop into this state, as she didn't stop seeing him as all powerful until the Zabuza arc, perfect and without flaws in the Chunin arc, and didn't really have much to offer aside from book smarts and unconditional love until she met Tsunade. Sasuke recognizing her unconditional love for him, her own achievements as a kunoichi, and still seeing him as "Sasuke of team seven" despite all the crazy shit he's done and put her through is probably what made him wife her in the first place. If that's true, then improving upon her personal abilities as a ninja, and being more chill with her affections with Sasuke, along with throwing in some interactions and bonding times here and there to show that she's open and supporting to his character would help SasuSaku ship sail more smoothly without as much fuss or questions (asuming Sasuke doesn't catch feelings for Hinata). Also, her not being able to "beat up" Naruto and obsess over Sasuke as much as she did when she was on the team would probably make her a more likable character as those were the main reasons as to why everyone disliked her so much to begin with.

And with Hinata following up with "lots of wasted potential" type character that didn't seem to get much light till The Last, being put on a team with her long time crush and inspiration, she'd be able to get out her shell and become the strong, beautiful, powerful, Byakugan princess-Hyuga clan heiress, and kick-ass kunoichi she is now .Sure, as Shineteo and ChakraWarrior2012 had pointed out, Sakura would work best in acting as the catalyst for Naruto and Sasuke because of the love triangle that was going on. But Hinata much like Sakura, and dare I say "Rin", would also be able to act as a peace mediator for Naruto and Sasuke. Given her kind and gentle nature, she'd encourage them both to get stronger, and offer moral support. Even though she has an obvious thing for Naruto, she's proven that she doesn't let that cloud her judgement. That being said, knowing her, rather than just constantly picking sides with Naruto or Sasuke, she'd likely try to help them both see the other's point and go off of whatever's most effective. Her presence there could help strengthen the bond between Naruto and Sasuke due to this, and it would also help strengthen the bond between her and Naruto as well. (Sparring, training sessions, and missions would also be more interesting considering that they are all attack types with Hinata also able to perform attack, support, and defense. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see a Hyuga and Uchiha together in battle --against or with does not matter to me--)

Naruto, for the longest, just wanted someone to acknowledge and accept him as a person. It's the sole reason he constantly risks his life. It's the reason we got the whole manga based off of him, since it was the very thing that inspired everything else about him. Having Hinata there supporting him and what not could help strengthen his character and bond. Again, as mention before by Shineto, Naruto is clueless, so he obviously wouldn't notice it right away. Although, Hinata being Hinata, he would feel like he couldn't let her down and still work hard regardless. Also, since Hinata tends to be the calm one in the group, she'd also help keep them both leveled when they get to high in their own egos/feelings, and command mutual respect. Not to mention, it would fix the dialogue problem that people's been complaining about with the "how does a person with little screen time and even less dialogue/interaction with the main character become a canon couple with kids with them?!" thing.

But again, that's just how I see it. If you think something different, I'd love to see your opinions in the comments.

I don't think Naruto would have pursued as strong of a rivalry with Sasuke if Sakura was not there. At first, the main reason Naruto is all up in Sasuke's face was to see why Sakura was so in love with him. He only accidentally kisses him because he is trying to see what Sakura sees in him. Since at first Naruto has a huge crush on Sakura...he faces off with Sasuke more and is one of the things driving him forward when retrieving Sasuke (since he promised her to bring him back).
I think Hinata would not have allowed the rivalry to grow as much.

I do think we would have seen Sakura's intellect come out more. We have to remember she had one of the highest scored on the written portion of the chunin exam. But without knowning Naruto she probably wouldn't have trained under Tsunade. Hinata might have, utilizing her byakugan to learn healing. Then she would have been given the back seat. haha Kishimoto can't write women well and does not really know what to do with them. That is why most of Hinata's growth happens off-screen originally.

You got some points, but regardless of the situation, Naruto and Sasuke would always be rivals no matter who they are teamed up with.
Sakura was definitely a catalyst for Naruto, that I will not argue with. Nor will I argue with Kishimoto's lack of skill with working with female
characters. Now that you mentioned it, I would have no doubt that he would do something like that. Although, if written/illustrated properly,
it's possible to still see improvement ad development from Sakura and any other characters really (although I got the feeling it'd be through fillers mostly).

As for romance and motivation, being on separate teams has been proven to have little to no effect on a person's romantic feelings towards another (at least immediately).
Examples of this would be Hinata, who still liked Naruto, and Ino, who still liked Sasuke, despite being on different teams. If anything, Naruto picking
fights with Sasuke over Sakura would become more so like the Rock Lee moments where it happens every time he runs into her team, or would often
think about her, using her as motivation for any and everything. That being said, it should also be noted that Sakura was pushed Naruto in the beginning
at first, yes, but at some point, Naruto and Sasuke grew over pride and jealousy of the other's power. Hinata's a over all caring person, and the chances
of Sakura wanting to get Sasuke back would still be the same. Naturally, Naruto would want to get his comrade back, and would still be driven to bring him
back by one if not both of the two girls.

The Tsunade thing, I noticed that at some point every kunoichi had trained under her due to a decree that she had made about at least one teammate knowing medical
ninjutsu. Although, some people is obviously more notable and adept in it, while others you would rarely see it from (kind of like how every kunoichi had to take flower
arrangement classes for future infiltration mission, but the only other people we ever see arranging flowers are Sakura and Ino). The thing you mentioned with Hinata
using her byakugan for healing actually already happened, so not much change there either way.

But come to think of it now, as you pointed out (intentionally or unintentionally, I do not know), Switching the two would only switch their problems.
People didn't like Hinata because all her development (especially romance) was done off screen, so some people feel like she is undeserving of the ship
in comparison to Sakura who has been there with him through thick and thin since the team was formed. By putting Hinata on the team, Kishimoto would
likely do the same to Sakura, causing her to gain Hinata's haters. A reason why people didn't like Sakura was because of her constant fan-girling over Sasuke,
and temper with Naruto. By putting Hinata on the team, people would undoubtedly get more irritated with her for not being able to speak clear words when
around Naruto, so Hinata would gain some of Sakura's haters. Unless something's done about the development of such things like romance and female character
development/rolls, the some of the problems, along with many others, would always be there...

The top two are the original pairings.
The bottom two is if Hinata and Sakura switched spots.

In hindsight this is how I would have arranged team 7 and 8.

10 and Guy don’t need to be changed.
