Description
Arriva North East operate many VDL-based buses, but very few of those carry bodywork by Plaxton. This is Centro-bodied SB120 1923 (YJ57 BVB). She is based at Stockton and certainly turns heads when in service, standing out from the crowd of Wright-built stock.
The northern-end of Stockton High Street, complete with its own unique mix of old and new, is the setting for this shot taken in mid-January 2016.

Thank you. In all honesty, not the intended target. But it was pretty much asking to be recorded.

No problem. They don't have these in london, they mostly have the crap B5LH and too many Enviro's.

The Centro failed to sell anywhere near as much as was hoped anywhere really. London's single-deck needs are catered for by the Enviro200 or older Dennis Dart. Full-size saloons are rare in London, only Mercedes Citaros or Scania OmniCity models being seen in any number.
I'm a fan of the Volvo B5LH, but never really found favour in the original Enviro400, both diesel and hybrid options. The new E400 MMC however is truly stunning.

The Volvo B5LH is a horrid bus IMO. Cannot stand the gear cut out's on it.

It was a strange sensation to me at first, but I tend to akin it to the likes of Trolleybuses when they pull away. And it has the feel of a semi-auto box when changing up progressively.

I have never been on a tram or trolleybus before.

It's an experience I would recommend. Even the modern attempts at Trams and Trolleybuses are worth trying, although classic examples would be better, so as to grasp a better understanding of how they have improved over the years.

Where I live(SE London) there are no trolleybuses but there is a tram in croydon but that would mean I would have to take several buses to get there.

The Trolleybus sensation can be achieved on the Volvo B5LH. It's very similar to the small period of time between the bus pulling away in All Electric Mode (AEM) and the diesel engine starting up. Only lasts a few seconds. Imagine it for longer periods of time and you have a trolleybus.
