Description Here's an ink drawing. There's certain clumsiness in some areas, but no matter. Just count the lines and tell me I didn't do my job!

Oh, and almost forgot the most important thing I was gonna say. I used for the pic three stocks:
,
and
.

Huge thank you for them!

It reminds me of those old style newspaper illustrations, like from vicrorian times when they would have some clever little caption underneath them.

Wow! All that in ink?! It's pretty good! It caught my attention at once because of the ambiance it portrayed.

Count the lines! Let me please just count the technique as incredibly involved.

If you see my skill in media you'll see that pen and ink is the one I cannot do. Therefore the more I admire those who can.

I love the narrative you "write" in this picture.

Excellent!

This is downright beautiful work. I absolutely adore the atmosphere you've created here both with the choice of background and between the subjects in this piece. Thank you so much for choosing my stock. Well done!

Thank you

The shadows cost me dearly. I think one my pens is not in any shape for drawing anymore

Forgot to mention - I especially like your hatching/cross-hatching. Along with shadows and darker moods, I always like detailed cross-hatching....

Thanks, nice to hear.

Though I think I also have some bad routines exactly on that sector. I sometimes do the shadowing in a way I'm used to, without thinking or looking enough. That results to unimaginative lines that don't bring out the physical form in the best possible way.

Just out of curiousity, what kind of pens do you use?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lechtonen In reply to John-Siemssen [2007-10-27 19:34:08 +0000 UTC]

Well, I don't have money for perfect equipment, so I use what I have.

Currently I mostly use Pilot Ultra Fine (can't remember the thickness) and Pilot 1.0 Calligraphy. I would really need more pens. Especially now the thicker one is starting to run out of juice.

I know what you mean. It feels like I went through every kind of inexpensive pen before I could afford technical pens. I found that inexpensive Sanford Uni-Ball ("micro") pens produced a good line, as did the Uni Jetstream (.7mm) pens, which were surprisingly good considering that they are ball-points....
