Though I am from the US, I do find this quite funny, and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. While I haven't met people that are blatantly that...mm, I hate to use the word because it's childish, "stupid," they're more preoccupied with themselves to even think about what the rest of the world is doing.
Same with certain email sites, that always have news updates (such as yahoo), but they're never about the rest of the world. Rather it's always about the same bullshit politics going on here, or about what so-and-so wore to the emmys, etc etc. I have to go to BBC news to find out what's happening, really.
