If I was the guy in front, I'd try to get a head a little bit, then slam on the brakes.

the funny thing is in that race the car ahead had more speed on the straights than me, this is the only way i could keep up

Not if you were driving that car. Rear engine, or looks like it. Slam on the brakes, you kill your engine and maybe his.

Ah. The driving games I play emphasise on different features (GTA with on foot gameplay, and Burnout with it's destructability).
With such realism on cars in games like that, I probably wouldn't want to do that, especially just for the laugh.
