Thanks! The head was probably the hardest part; the rest of the doll practically made itself. Glad you liked it!

I can imagine!
I have great appreciation for a clever and well made amigurumi.. I have purchased this book 1.bp.blogspot.com/-T_PjKeEl4M0… and was able to teach myself crochet, but haven't yet finished anything. While I have patience enough to spend 30 hours on one of my posable creatures, I don't have the brand of patience that crochet demands.

I have that book too! She does some things different from me, but overall it seems like a great place to start from. I wish she had gone into more detail on how she does hairstyles, but to be fair I'm not really sure how I'd describe how I do mine either. But there's a nice list towards the back of the different types of yarns that she uses, which is really handy because it can be hard sometimes to find good hair and skin tones.
Crochet doesn't take too long once you get the hang of it. My regular-sized dolls tend to take between 8-12 hours if there's not too much rework, and I do most of it while I'm watching TV anyway. Your art looks much more involved (and it looks gorgeous!).

Yeah... hair is intimidating no matter how you do it. I aggree, the yarn list was most helpful!
My problem is that I don't have enough experience to do it while watching tv... I am forever losing count of the stitches. So for me, it is a strange combination of really boring/repetitive and great concentration... :/ Eventually I'll get the hang of it.

Amazing work! I'm planning to make my own crochet pattern for Vader. I hope mine turns out as well as yours!

Thanks! I've never written a pattern before. They look like they take a lot of work to do well. Good luck with yours!
