Description
Technically it should be called "A and Z" because those are the only letters included, but "A to Z" sounds better! This one definitely needs explanation. In our 2D Design class, we were to come up with some compositions using the letters A and Z. This one started out as a rectangle with 4 A's and 4 Z's "hidden" inside. This cannot really be classified as a typography design because I didn't use fonts; I just drew the letters.
If you don't see the letters, that's because I duplicated the image three times and reflected it so that it became a more complex composition, and also because sometimes only half of the A or Z can be seen. But it's a fun little game if you're willing to give it a shot.
For some reason, it was a weak design in black and white, so I added color. Even flat color didn't do much for it, so I went with gradients. The colors look, I don't know, really 70s-ish to me for some reason, and they aren't the prettiest colors I could have chosen. But I've never really done something like this, so I decided to stick with it. I'm starting to ramble, so I'll stop now.

I love this, it's very striking. Because of the pattern, it reminds me of something...I'm not sure exactly, Aztec maybe? And the warm colour scheme that you chose for it is exactly perfect for the design.
And now I think this is a really neat idea, I'd just love to play with the concept of "hiding" letters in a design, oh yes!

Oh yeah, Aztec, I totally see where you're getting that from. Thank you, I'm glad you like the colors because they tend to look very different from screen to screen. The background color is supposed to be sort of a neutral cream color, but when I printed it out it looked like some kind of glow-in-the-dark greenish-yellow!

That happened to me recently. I was colouring a yellow dragon (which I haven't uploaded yet but will one day, and then you'll know what I'm talking about) and I printed it out to go with an assignment about planning my puppet that I had to turn in. On my screen it was this neat-o yellow colour and then when I printed it out it was quite green. I wasn't best pleased.
