Description
This is a piece dealing with sex, sexual politics, and, on a more personal level, HIV infection. Perhaps I will think, eventually, of an appropriate title, but hopefully the piece speaks for itself as is.Related content

Provocative and well-executed! Both are definitely nice to see here on dA. It's ominous and yet beautifully textured and lit. Best of all, it takes the viewer (or at least me) a bit to figure it all out, and then BAM! Like a semi--it's clear as day what the image is. Good work.

thanks! I'm always geeked when somebody digs one of my conceptual pieces. I always get a lot of faves on my nudes, but these ones take a little more effort, I think. Plus it's been a long time since I've gotten any comments, and that always makes my day.

The perspective is kinda odd but the message and idea are excellent.

Wow what a strong piece. The message is so powerful. The shot is really great, I love how you focus this and controlled the DOF. The b/w really create an impact, I'm sure it'll not the same if it was colored. Excellent!!

very powerful peice, has an almost (and lack for a better, less than cliche, term) gritty realism

well most magazines have submissions guidlines... i write articles and stories for several and on the websites(look for a corporate or contacts/editorial staff link) you'll find usually not only the guidelines but sometimes what their furure editorial needs will be

This would be even better if the barrel of the gun was more clear. That is, if there was more detail in the metal at the end of the barrel as compared to the black void of the inside of the barrel. I hope you know what I mean. I want to see the big "O" at the end of the barrel more clearly because that is the center of gravity of the image. A little photoshop slight-of-hand perhaps.

I do know what you mean, but I'd rather just reshoot it with better light, since I can't seem to photoshop it to my satisfaction. I REALLY hate photoshop - I'd much rather never have to go digital and use PS because it's not logical, you know? Working in the darkroom follows natural laws and is thus completely logical. PS is just memorizing where some programmer guy decided to put certain buttons that do certain things that he thought were "nice." You can't figure it out or trouble shoot using your own inginuity - it's a very limited thing this photoshop...
I wish I could learn to like it and use it well - it would make my life a whole lot easier and my future as a photographer a whole lot brighter.

PS does have a kind of logic. Of course, electronic logic is different from chemical logic. But the more you use it and the better you understand it, the more logical it becomes. Don't give up- find a good teacher.

yes, I am certain I will eventually learn PS - I've just been really struggling with it - it's such a complicated program, to me, anyway. But hey, digital is where it's at, so what choice do I really have? that's not necessarily a bad thing...

very clever idea that resulted in a powerful image! i like the shallow depth of field because this way the image isn't obvious at first sight.
