In the waking world, Fido feels something sharp grip his tail, causing him to wake up. Out of instinct, he flicks it out of the way, causing Wood Man to wake up in a panic.

Fido: *twitches his ear out of concern*
Wood Man: I didn't mean to hurt you, I'm sorry. I was just having a Nightmare, that's all.

Then of course, Wood Man gets out his journal, continuing to write, this time about that dream he just had, and subsequently woke up from. It's a little bit messier than normal, given his lack of external light sources.
