Named after Vietnam War general Creighton Abrams, the Abrams is the third generation of main battle tanks to be used by the United States. The tank first entered service in 1980 to replace the M60 . The tank first tasted combat in 1991 during Operation Desert Storm, it's thick depleted uranium armor, 105 mm main gun, and 2,500 m firing range made it superior to every Soviet-era tank wielded by the Iraqis. Since then, Abrams tanks have been sold to and used by six other countries: Australia, Morocco, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Egypt.
