Ummm... if you would read your history book, as you've been intstructed, you would learn that Samus' gender was unknown until you beat the original "Metroid" in under an hour. Until that happened, everyone just assumed that "Samus Aran" was a man.

At the time the game was released... yes. Strong female heros were not common. So, when the gender of a powerful hero is not actually know, the gender is automatically assumed as being male. That's the way things like that kind of work. And if you have a problem with that, take it up with society back in 1987, because when Samus was revealed to be a woman, it floored EVERYONE, and instantly made Samus Aran into one of the coolest characters of all time.
So don't try to soapbox about something you know nothing about. As I've stated numerous times before, not everone will laugh at everyone of my comics. If you don't get it, it wasn't written for you.
