I plan on converting the entire thing to digital, so I might be on hiatus for a while while I work on it. this an expansion of this picture , which really only reflected on one species out of five hundred or so. this mostly just goes over the basics, such as possible evolution, species/variation, skeletals, proportions, and basic anatomy. I apologise for my handwriting, it was mostly for me to help keep track of what I was doing.
now I know that Pteranodons apparently went extinct before the K-12, so really there no reason for this to have happened. but then again, Pteranodon longiceps is my second favorite animal behind the bald eagle, so I went with them instead of Azhdarchidonts (although I am doing stuff with them too, as you can see by the flightless species pictured above). I do plan on doing a lot more with these guys, so be prepared for a lot more Pteranosimian stuff in the future. it's really fun to just sometimes switch away from something you've been doing a lot and work on something new.

This is an amazing sketch page. I absolutely love pterosaurs, and these pictures are just phenomenal.

pterosaurs are so underrated, it's a shame they don't get more attention
thank you very much!

More attention that didn't confuse them for dinosaurs would be awesome too, to be honest. XD
No problem! Work like this definitely deserves some praise.

YES. SO MUCH YES. and to get people to stop referring them as "pterodactyls" too!

I mean if it's an actual pterodactylus, maybe, but even then most of them aren't that kind of pterosaur in the first place. XD
It's kind of like how people think bats and shrews are rodents, just because they're tiny mammals.

someone once came up to me and asked me if chickens were birds or not. I kid you not. "but they don't fly!" I've never facepalmed so hard in my entire life.
how is it that we're in the 21st century and still some people think rhinos evolved from triceratops and that dolphins are reptiles. seriously people.

Uh. Wow. Not sure how to respond to that one.
I uh guess bats and insects ARE birds because they do fly. Or falcons aren't birds because they eat other birds. Similar logic, right?
Ooooh, or that dolphins/whales are fish. That pushes my buttons man.

did't you hear?! birds evolved from pterosaurs because both can fly! /s seriously, do people even SCIENCE?!
to be honest about the whale and dolphin thing though, I've never met anyone who's made that mistake. seems like some things are drilled into people more than others

Umm???? no i'm p sure BATS evolved from pterosaurs because they're wings r the exact same????? have u never seen a book????
(That hurt. A lot. lol)
I've seen it a LOT online and even in some books (though I'll give those the benefit of the doubt since some of them were published before scientists knew that cetaceans weren't fish). It really irks me when a popular book (pretty much any of the ones that a majority of children and/or teenagers would read) presents an incorrect statement as fact -- it's even sadder when they're trying to do it as a joke/make fun of people who think the incorrect thing but people take them seriously. :/

the whole blog hurts a lot. I'm amazed at the sheer stupidity of it. almost on par with David Peters.
the US education system especially needs a MASSIVE reform. almost everything science related here is outdated by at least a decade, but some stuff by even longer!
Uh, I don't know what books your reading, but Cetaceans have been classified as mammals since 1778
