One more thing, how exactly did you get the design so beautifully crafted and not have it look like crap? I mean, it's not like I haven't done it myself, I just can't get the hang of Photoshop, gimp, or Paint.net.

hmm... not exactly sure. just color it in then use a black brush on a layer thats at 30% and go back and erase it little by little to make it look more like the real things. I do the same thing with the white on a different layer
when I first started I followed these two tutorials [link] and [link] but then started doing the above. I also occasionally use the smudge (not the blur) tool on fluffy fakemon

I personally would've called it the Coelacanth Pokemon, since it's nearly the same thing, but whatever gets it on the drawing board.
