She’s generally described as ‘cute’ due to her dessert-like coloring and (mostly) balanced body.

Mocha was born to surprisingly supportive, normal parents, despite the dangerous living in the Sand Kingdom. (S)he was sheltered from all the bad in the world and raised without a care in the world. Though she’d seen the rampant crime in her hometown and across the kingdom, she was willing to listen her her parents’ lies and believe everything was okay.

The only thing she had to worry about was pleasing her parents. Her parents wouldn’t tell her to her face, but they’d hoped a girl would hatch out of their single egg. Born male, and wanting only to make her parents happy, this out stress on Mocha from a young age. She didn’t need to be told to her face, it was enough to hear them talk about her behind her back.

Dragonet >

Born petite and soft-looking, Mocha naturally got comments of being ‘cute’ from her parents and the students and teachers at her school. She naturally looked feminine, and was even often mistaken for being female, since there was nothing but her body shape and facial features for others to judge her by. At first, Mocha didn’t like this, didn’t want to explain her gender to everyone she met, and be judged based on her appearance. She didn’t ask to be small and feminine. So, from a young age she started to get involved in sports and fighting, taking on a mean persona in an attempt to seem more masculine. She didn’t like it at all, didn’t feel like it was right, but she found it easier and healthier than submitting to everyone else’s expectations or trying to explain herself.

Mocha eventually gave up on this persona, trying to just live like herself again. She’d built up muscles and didn’t look so soft any more, so the questions died down a bit, but no matter what she did she didn’t feel comfortable with herself and what she was doing. She struggled in academics and didn’t like sports or getting beat up in fights she’d start. In secret, she began to try things she hadn’t before. Dancing became something she strongly connected to, though she also seemed to have a talent for music and singing.

Young Adult >

Mocha had normally stayed away from Full Moon festivals, choosing to only take the social interaction she had to during school and at home. However, shortly after turning adult, she decided to come out of her shell a bit and see if other dragons appreciated her talents. She felt like she’d found what she was meant to do, but she also felt like she needed the approval of other dragons to know for sure.

After a night of festivities and showing off, Mocha had learned she wasn’t anywhere near the best in her class, but she’d still drawn quite a lot of attention. Particularly, she was approached by a group of obviously sleazy male SandWings mistaking her gender and asking for a little ‘alone time’. Mocha knew what they meant, of course, though due to growing up very sheltered she saw no faults in the suggestion and couldn’t understand that they were likely bad dragons. However, before anything escalated, the group was dispersed by a larger, stronger looking SkyWing, who taught Mocha what that kind of group really wanted with her. He made sure she was okay, and offered to take her home, even though Mocha wasn’t really all that rattled. More so, she was now interested in this SkyWing. She wasn’t used to other dragons sticking up for her, and she found him very handsome. She felt that this was what she was missing; she was interested in other dragons that were big, strong, and masculine, not being masculine. Mocha quickly admitted she wasn’t female, but she offered the SkyWing what he prevented the SandWings from getting from her. He was surprised, but of course accepted. Mocha started a relationship with the SkyWing, Denali, and found herself newly motivated by pleasures. She decided she’d rather be considered female after all and started taking the compliments and questions in her stride. This is where she began to eat more, her features getting a bit more round, and started to hoard items. She started to get more extroverted, showing off her skills and talents more, and eventually she’d caught the eye of a member of the Dancer’s Guild during a performance.

Mocha knew of the three Guilds in the Sand Kingdom, of course, though she never thought she’d be able to get into any of them. They were all very prestigious, filled with the best of the best, and while she was confident in herself, she didn’t believe she had that kind of talent. Nyiri, an older SandWing claiming to be part of the Dancer’s Guild offered her an apprenticeship. Mocha didn’t know if it was the truth, but she didn’t know any members of the guilds other than the most illustrious and well-known, so she gave it a chance. She spent a year under Nyiri’s wing improving her skills, and was eventually accepted into the guild, Nyiri’s promises not being false.
Shortly after being accepted, however, Mocha caught word of the peaceful life on Mezzo and how it attracted plenty of talented dragons. She decided to move there, though it meant leaving Denali behind for a short time. She promised that Denali would stay her only romantic interest, but they both knew she couldn’t stick to monogamy and would end up giving into her desires with a stranger before long. She didn’t know what would happen with her position in the Dancer’s Guild, but she was happy enough with being able to say she was accepted in the first place.
