Description Back in May, I happened to capture the asteroid 19 Fortuna while observing the double star Jabbah (Nu Scorpii) in the constellation Scorpius. This is my very first astrophoto of an asteroid!

First discovered in 1852 and named for the goddess of luck, Fortuna is one of the largest asteroids in the Asteroid Belt. Nu Scorpii is a septuple star system, with the main component--Jabbah--belonging to a trinary system. Only Nu Scorpii A (Jabbah) and Nu Scorpii B are visible here, as the 26mm eyepiece used for this shot is fairly low magnification (roughly 47x).

My Equipment:

-Apertura AD8 Dobsonian Telescope
-Meade 26mm Ploessl Eyepiece
-Celestron Smartphone Adapter
-iPhone SE (2nd Gen)
