On my old Vista laptop I could restart and an option to boot ubuntu would appear. On windows 7, nothing.

It's miraculously started working. Before it never gave me the reboot option, it would just go to the progress bar then vanish. Problem solved (I think :S).

Thanks, I'll try not to spam the questions but is there a way for me to use my windows 7 files (music pictures etc) with mint?
(and I have a problem hooking up to my wireless... I feel like such a noob lol. Now I know how normal people feel when using windows)
