Description
A squirrel at Christmas can get pretty cold
Living outdoors also gets pretty old
When your house is of leaves and your bed made of hair
You wish for more days that are sunny and fair.

But this squirrel is happy, he's soon getting fed
With pecans and peanuts this Christmas instead
Of pine cones and walnuts that fell from a tree
I hope he enjoys this small token from me.

Because I am glad I can sleep in my bed
My house is so warm and my belly is fed
I have many things I can be thankful for
So I like to be nice to this squirrel at my door.

I hope that this Christmas you have all you need
And even some wishes and plenty of feed
But not everybody has as much as you
The action of giving is what we should do

For people less fortunate like this poor squirrel
And each man and woman, and each boy and girl
Who don't have a place called home, nothing to eat
Please dig in your pocket and give them a treat.

What's better, if possible, dig deep in your heart
And love all the needy before they depart
And fade off to heaven..I hope I can say
That I tried to help them and I found a way

It may be a squirrel in the shivering cold
A worried teenager with a baby to hold
A family that's trying to make the ends meet
If you can but help them to sleep and to eat

Isn't that Christmas when we love for real?
Help people and animals obtain a meal?
I hope you get everything you wanted this year
But lets spread some love and distribute some cheer.
