I was thinking of making the sunset reflecting on the fur but maybe I should have made the fur darker, I was worried it would not show enough detail...

I'm really sorry, man, it's Kong's face in your original line art, he looks just right. He looks sweet and is enjoying the company, but in this one, he looks really ugly, and appears to be snarling while in the original he looks happy. That's the only thing wrong with it, but the rest is beautiful, man

I think it might have been more to your liking if I did not try to add as much wrinkles and details to the face, if I would have left it smoother it would have looked more friendly.  Maybe if I feel like it later I can try to improve it and also make the fur darker, but I don't know that it is worth the effort..
