Description
Here is Rodan painted. It still needs some touch ups, and add gloss to the eys, etc. If you have suggestions for the color please let me know before I go past the point where I stick the whale on him and stuff..Related content

Very nice paint job! Looks pretty realistic. My only suggestion would be to put some washes over the veins on the wings to blend them in a bit better, they seem a bit too dark to look like they're under the skin.

Yes I am going to try a bit different, maybe oil drybrush over it..

Oil, like oil paint? Oil paint eats sculpey (unless you've got a super thick coat of primer over it) so you should stick with acrylic.

I prime it, paint with acrylic first, dullcoat it, and do oils last.
I did not know that it ate sculpy though..

It does if you apply it right to the sculpey. I think it just sort of corrodes it over time (unlike aerosols that eat styrofoam by immediately dissolving it into a puddle of goo...hehheh) Over top of primer, paint, and sealant you should be fine. I always just stick to acrylic to be safe.

This thing is amazing! Everything about it is just modeled perfectly. However, those veins are a tad too bold. But that's just one minor thing, the whole piece is epic!

Thanks, and that is a good observation..I may redo them in a more pastel red, or maybe a light purple or bluish, what do you think?

A light red would look nice, along with a few a bit bluish for arteries. Too much blue wouldn't look right with the color scheme though. And you're welcome
