Description
sorry for recycling my artwork. testing out brushes and multiple overlay layers. what I learned today: random brushes and strokes and colors will always look good on an overlay layer.note: If I remember correctly, the brushes I used is from brushking.eu and some from [link]

That is wicked design.
I'm really liking all the little details on this.
I need to play with Photoshop more.

this is great! i really like the direction ur wok is going in! want to really have a lil fun? take u magic wand n select all ur robot layers and copy merged layers. now go to new channel and make one. paste the copied layers onto there, and make sure they match up to where they should be. NOW u can go into lighting effects. at the bottom of the whole lighting effects menu, theres a little thing that says' texture channel'. tell it to use ur new alpha channel u just made, and have fun with the 'mountainess' slider (make sure white is high is checked).
what this does is use your robo image as a grayscale texture map. it will treat ur white as raised bumps, and render them accordingly. this is a lil tricky, but works great to nail textures that would take years otherwise

good luck with it leinel. heres an example of it and a few other out there photoshop techniques. the texture option i told u about using lighting effects is used in a few spots, although not to really 'light' stuff, only to emboss the texture. like i said, its tricky. and no one else uses it. thats why its cool.

Yep, I'm totally digging the textures you're able to get on there. And there's just something about the way you do hot spots that is so awesome...

you don't have to learn everything at once. don't get overwhelmed. just learn what you need.

Out of curiosity, with the grunge brushes you use, do you generally stamp them or smear them?

I mostly smear them with angle jitter. sometimes stamping too.
