OK, so first, let me explain what happened to Projects 3 and 4 - Project 3 was an (at the time) ambitious undertaking which I couldn't finish, since I was still lining/scanning at the time, which is a terrible way to make your cel if you can't actually -draw- properly. See also Project 2, which was also a lining disastrophy. Project 4, meanwhile, was a mediocre image I decided to drop altogether, whereas I might actually restart Project 3 because the work itself is wonderful.

Second, allow me to say this is the longest I ever took to complete a cel or any work of art, for that matter. Since the start early 2008 I moved (twice), had a mental breakdown (and nearly another), and... let's just say this cel reminds me of a generally less nice time of my life. As with anything, the storm passed and I recently got back to celling, and had to finish this one first.

That said, here's project 5. I decided to take a risk, as they say, and actually fancel a frame from the actual anime. The scan does not show the (much more vibrant) colors properly, and I might actually update this image some day. I tried to be as loyal as possible with reproducing the original colors, and while it doesn't really show here, I feel I've succeeded a that. It's vectored, in case it wasn't obvious, and I feel it did the cel damn good. The big lesson I learned there is that FlashMX was easy to vector with, but hard to handle as it crashed a lot.

I still have a couple of cel-less douga lying around which I may or may not one day also fancel, but that's still a bridge too far for me right now. I feel I can't honor the original artists well enough, quite yet. More training for me.

I feel 2015 may become a celling point (haw, haw) in my life.
