“So this is the rumored haunted manor.” You and Ludwig looked at the building with confusion. “It looks just like a normal well-maintained castle… with a moat, to boot!” You looked down into the moat curiously.

“Well, glad that them Kirklands don’t have any crocodiles in it.” You whispered jokingly, as Elizabeta grinned. “Enough chatting. It would take us all year at this rate.” Roderich looked at you with an impatient expression, and you nodded. “Yes, I think we should get moving. Let’s go.”

All of you circled the manor, looking for entrances other than knocking on the front door (which was more like a drawbridge). “Hmm, I think all of us can scale walls, right?” After a while of checking the walls, you see that there were a few guards at the top. Ludwig took a slight glance at Roderich and frowned. “I think Roderich can’t. He’s a little… unfit.” Giving Ludwig a glare, Roderich sighed. “I think it's imperative that you check the top of the walls properly, (name). You never know the number of people just by taking a guess.”

Seeing how cautious Roderich was, you reminded yourself to stop being naive. “Sure. I’ll throw a sleeping smoke bomb up there.” Before Ludwig could stop you, you used one of your wires in one of your long sleeves, hooking yourself to the wall and floating just above the moat. Quickly scaling up the wall, you stopped at the edge, and rapidly did a backflip, and threw the smoke bomb that fell behind the wall before landing back on the ground on your feet, retracting the wire back into your sleeve.

Feeling rather victorious as you heard the small explosion and the sound of panicked men, you looked at Roderich, who was clearly impressed with your agility and strength. As the cries of men died down and turned into snores, you prepared to scale the wall again.
Ludwig and Elizabeta also prepared themselves, but Roderich stopped you from scaling it.

Stepping forward, he aimed his revolver and pulled the trigger twice, taking out the two last men who attempted to shoot at you from the top of the wall. You whistled upon seeing his skill with your own eyes. You were not bad at sniping either, but it was rare to see someone at your level. Noticing how interested you were in Roderich’s skill, Elizabeta explained, “Roddy’s glasses are actually impeding his eyesight. He naturally has excellent eyesight, extremely well suited for killing from a distance. His longest distance from a target was actually 2 kilometers away, with his glasses on. Isn’t he so cool?”

No wonder he didn’t use a normal sniping rifle. He can probably murder me from a few kilometers away without his glasses provided that he has the equipment. Those eyes… they’re a god-sent gift in this business. But I’d much rather be well-rounded… Snipers should be strong in combat too.
Getting over your awe, you looked around the top of the manor.

Sensing no bloodlust and seeing that no one was left, you signaled everyone, who quickly followed you up. Although Ludwig was the one who helped haul Roderich up, you could see the jealousy in Elizabeta’s eyes. Well, she’s certainly strong enough, but he’ll probably be humiliated if he was carried by a woman…. especially if that woman is his own fiancée….

As everyone reached the top, Elizabeta tapped the floor. Hearing a hollow sound, she smashed the spot with her frying pan. Although the trapdoor that covered the hidden stairwell was in pieces, there was no dent on the frying pan. Her raw power never fails to impress. I remember her saying that the pan was also custom made... Maybe I should go have one made as well…

Shaking yourself out of your own daydream, you pulled out a flashlight, and shone it down the stairwell. Seeing nothing, you quickly climbed down the ladder, and realized that you ended up in a small room, filled with ammunition. “Score!” You whispered, handing filling magazines and passing rounds to Roderich and Ludwig. Elizabeta was okay with using a weapon, but she preferred her custom frying pan over guns. Walking around without ammunition makes her a lot faster than you too.

After Ludwig put his ear to the door, he gave you the signal to get ready. You slowly crept to the door, and he quickly opened the door in one motion, and everyone rushed out. It was an empty hallway.

Suddenly, a large bang was heard, and you saw a giant iron ball as tall as the ceiling rolling towards you. Needless to say, you didn’t shout run because your legs were already doing the job for you. Ludwig was just as fast, even with Roderich on his back, and Elizabeth was ahead.

Elizabeth, reaching a safe space first, signaled all of you hide with her. You took a sharp left turn, reaching safety, and pulled in Ludwig. The ball kept on rolling towards the end of the hallway, and passed the corner that you all hid in. “Well, that wasn’t unexpected… but I have to say, that was still rather… surprising.” Ludwig set Roderich back onto the ground, and Roderich almost looked thankful that the ordeal was done with.

Resting for a few more seconds, you said, “Let’s move on. It’s not safe to stay here for a long time.”

“You’re certainly right. But you’re a little too late…. Miss (name) (last name)."
