I strongly believe that Starscream's trinemates do exist in TFP. And their absence in the show is surely caused by some tragic events of the past. 'Cause trine is a sacred thing for Seekers.

I like to imagine they got separated and can't find one another because as the Transformers Prime story said all robots left Cybertron and went on their own. WheelJack and Dreadwing being the perfect two examples.
