You knew it wasn’t alright. You worked in this place long enough to know when something wasn’t alright. No one knew where you worked apart from yourself and your colleagues, though you suppose it is for the best really.

To be exact you worked at some foundation, the foundation. Everyday you spent your time around monster, creatures and artifacts that could potentially kill you. You, being a janitor, only clean their containment cells but that is enough for you to understand just what kind of things you are working with.

Today was suppose to be indifferent from the last. Today you were meant to get up, clean a few hallways and cells, eat, drink and sleep. It seemed fate had other plans. You knew that the moment you heard the alarms…

‘The site is experiencing multiple Keter and Euclid level containment breaches. Full site lock-down initiated’

It was at that moment, you knew you were screwed. The chances of you were escaping were slim, you knew that to be a fact. You didn’t need to be a scientist to know that some of the most dangerous creatures around had just breached containment.

The thought of low survival chances didn’t stop you trying though. As soon as you broke out of your slight daze you bolted down corridors after corridors, searching for the exit.

“Thanks for making this easy, foundation…” You mumbled spitefully to yourself. Despite working here for a fair bit of time, you still had the tendency to get lost. Where is SCP 131 A and B when you need them? They seem to know their way around this place better than anyone, and they could help keep danger away from you.

Sighing as you found yet another empty corridor, you cautiously closed the door behind you before proceeding forward. The gentle clanking of your boots on metal floor being the only sound other than your harsh breaths.

One of the biggest issues you faced is when you wanted to go into a higher authority room to find anything useful, you always got to that your key card’s level was not high enough. How were you expected to get out if you didn’t have any gear to give you the edge? Your best chance of survival is to be found by the ‘nine tailed fox’ when they arrived.

Your feet beginning to emit a dull throb was the moment you decided that you needed to rest. You hadn’t seen any SCP’s so hopefully none will show up now. You closed your eyes for a bit and listened to the echoing silence. It was somewhat peaceful. You, unitentionally, began to play with your (H/L) (H/C) while you waited for your feet to recover.

You opened your eyes to notice an indifferent scenery, not much to your surprise. You knew you couldn’t stay in one place for too long, that would make it easy for something not too friendly to find you. Slowly heaving your frame up, you stretched off some little aches and pains in your arms and legs before proceeding with your hunt for an exit.

Every noise you heard was enough to make you jump slightly. Usually this place was bursting with clamour as you walked down the endless corridors. That was the sort of thing you were used to. Though at times you would seek silence, this one was eerie and unprecedented. It sent chills down through your spine and into your core.

It was to your utmost delight the moment you came across SCP 131 A and B. The poor beings looked so lost and alone, so sad.

“Eye pods! Over here!” You called out, happy to see them, well, not as happy as they were to see you though. They whizzed over excitedly and began circling your feet, it looked like they were bouncing too. They began emitting some jumbled sounds of excitement as they finally came to a stop in front of you. You bent over and rubbed their heads, something they liked and saw as praise.

“Have you guys seen anyone else?” You asked hoping that you weren’t the only one still in this mess. You were only met with disappointment when they began to shake themselves left and right in the ‘no’ manner. You let out a sigh before straighten out your back and looking at your options of proceeding. You couldn’t go back, backtracking would make it easier for hostiles to find you. You decided to continue forwards, now feeling slightly safer with the company of the 131’s.

The two beings around your feet always seemed on edge as you passed through the many corridors, this alone was slightly scaring you. You knew they could sense danger, they hated it when people were forced to enter the containment cells of dangerous SCP’s. Once they protected you and some other cleaners from 173 when you were cleaning out its cell. You were glad of their help, you always had a deep fear of the statue that could break your neck the moment you blinked. The thought that the same statue was running rampant around the facility made you shiver, which made you gain the concern of the eyes pods though you assured them that you were fine.

More offices. At least it is better than more endless corridors. You began to flick through some of the stuff and found yourself fortunate that there was a conveniently placed gas mask on a shelf. The computers had all been left on and abandoned, some of the papers were in disarray, you could tell that the rush to escape had been frantic. Slight corrosion here and there had alerted you to the fact that a certain SCP had been through here and might have already taken someone as his next victim.

You decided to use this office as your next rest stop, hoping that the SCP that had previously been here would not backtrack on itself and find you lazing here, though you were slightly confident that the eye pods would warn you if he did try coming here. You sat by a desk while the eye pods leaned on your legs slightly, in an exhausted manner but you were quite sure that they weren’t.

The odd roar here and there would always remind you that you shouldn’t get too lax and that danger could be lurking just around the corner… or under the floorboards. You looked at your watch and sighed to yourself, ninetailed fox should be arriving soon, hopefully. You could turn on your radio and message someone while waiting here though that would simply be making you a sitting duck amongst the pack of wolves.

You finally decided to move when the familiar roar of mister hate everything sounded all too close. The eye pods looked like they wanted to bolt too. When you suggested to them that you started moving again they began ‘chirping’ happily and began leading the way.

You weren’t too sure which gate would still be open and so you were blindly walking around the facility, feeling stressed whenever you found a closed gate. The hallways were quiet and ominous still with no signs of any SCP’s, the only thing that reminded you that they were there was the loud noises that some made.

It was all a matter of time.

You were bound to run into one sooner or later.
